Feeling Sick A Lot?!

Question: For about 5 months I've felt sick a lot, like after eating sometimes or other times it just randomly happens.. I get bad heartburns too and the doctor said it was something about acid reflux..
But lately I've been kind of stressed out over stuff and when I was talking to a friend lastnight he was saying he is getting worried about how often I am sick, he told me that his mom was going thru a lot of stress and it made her feel sick all the time, and he told me that if it's stress than I could end up needing anti depressants and it could go far as being hospitalized.. But you wouldn't think stress would cause me to feel almost sick to my stomach?
And I don't feel depressed or anything like that, like I'm still a happy person and everything.. but he scared me when he said what serious things could happen from being stressed

Stress can very definitely take a toll on your body. Many diseases are stress related or stress aggravated. Acid reflux is one of them. So are ulcers. If this has been happening for 5 months and you have already seen a Dr. about it, why hasn't he done something for you. He can prescribe medicine for you which will prevent the acid reflux. Also, you should be keeping a journal of your diet to see which foods aggravate your condition most so you can eliminate them. Also, exercise is an important piece of the puzzle. The body needs exercise for many different reasons, if only to get the digestive track moving. Nausea is something different. It also has many causes which could be mental or physical. If someone who cares about you and spends time with you thinks you may have some symptoms of depression, maybe it's time to listen. Most people can mask their depression so that people never know about it. That's how it comes out in other ways, body aches, headaches, muscle aches etc. You don't have to be walking around with a scowl on your face to be depressed. Got to Web MD and check out the symptoms of depression. If you find you have a few of them, make another appointment with your Dr to be evaluated for it. Good luck and good health to you.

i have this too!! people have been tellin me its cuz im stressed, but i duno...

I've had the tendency to feel sick often, as well as stomach aches and/or diarrhea, since I was 21 and now I am in my 30's. I am pretty certain it's caused by stress/upset/excitement. I find that activity helps, as opposed to going and lying down.

Stress can make a person sick-but so can just changes in diet, sleep patterns, ans general life-style. Don't worry unless its hurting your quality of life. Too many people run to the doctor cuz they arn't 100 percent!

OK there are a few ways to look at this and they all start with the first point as they are all things point one would have done if you kept going back until it was fixed ...

* You have seen a Dr in the past about it and he told you it was acid reflux and Im assuming told you how to treat it - it obviously hasnt worked - have you gone back? Other medication that is stronger could be tried - he may perform other tests to rule out other things and try to diagnose the problem - if you havent gone back his records will show that 5 months ago you went in and havent been back about it so that must be what it was...

* Yes depression can cause nausea

* Yes stress can cause nausea

* Do you get enough sleep? When Im tired I get nauseated if I try to fight it

* How is your diet? Do you eat enough? Do you eat too much? Do you eat a healthy balanced diet or mainly junk or fast foods?

* You could be vitamin deficient - some vitamin deficiencies can cause nausea

I could go on and on Nausea is one of the most common symptoms for most things but why you have let it go for 5 months I dont know - the answer is simple - re-read my first point - go back to the Dr and keep going back till they can find the answer
