"Quitting smoking is easy, I've done it a hundred times"
-- Mark Twain
The 1st few days are the roughest but it does get better -- going out drinking is the real tough thing, if you indulge in such things. After your 2nd week you'll start to feel better but your still gonna crave them. My father quit 30 years ago and doesn't miss them at all -- My father-in-law quit about 20 years ago and still misses having a good smoke every now and then.
If you avoid the bottle you can drop the smokes with some effort and a lot of willpower. There isn't ONE positive side to smoking (other than the immediate feeling) you stink and your killing yourself AND it costs you $5.00 a pack to do so.
Good luck -- if I can do it so can you

i would say that it was really really hard by the first night and the following day. The first 3 days were the worst. It's been 6 months, and I still think about having a cigarette. Maybe once a week or so, but I don't indulge.

When I quit I would say every day was my worst day for the first 3 weeks. I was miserable! However, once I was past the 3 week period things seem to ease up. I still craved them for a long time but not nearly as often; just hang tough. I have now been smoke free for 12 years. Good luck, I know it's hard.

It didn't get better for months in my opinion. The first day was hard, and then you thought o it gets better soon, but then you think "well I am ok now" so your head starts telling you to sneak them here and there - GOOD LUCK! It is the HARDEST thing i have EVER quit - and I have quit a lot!
