Answers: can this affect my brain?

Sounds like a healthy diet. The nuts will have what your brain needs - fatty acids. I was kind of concerned when the question showed up as 150 cals, so clicked to see. Glad you edited!

1500 really isn't that bad depending on your size. If you are a small person, that may be all you need. You will feel light headed and listless if you need more calories. Eating like an old person is not that bad! You might make sure you are getting good protein sources, like the nuts. Maybe beans and lean meats (if not vegetarian). You might add a teaspoonful of cod liver oil daily (tested mercury free brand).

The fatty acids are what your brain really wants. And the fruits are great. I assume you are getting leafy greens too? And drinking plenty of water for cell transport of nutrients.

Best health to you.

sounds healthy to me. youre probably doing your brain a favor. just include eggs and vegetables in that and youre set.

I was going to say wow! Are you dead yet HAHA. No I mean if you can do it and you have been eating this way for a long time then you're good. I suggest taking a multivitaimin. It will help in keeping you healthy. Take an Omega 3 Suppliment. that will help in keeping your brain in tack. HAHA. But, if you have been doing this for years I bet you're not fat and probably pretty healthy so I wouldn't worry to much.

This cannot be good!!! You're NOT 80! No one your age should fall below 1000 calories a day, even if you're trying to lose weight. From what I understand, when you restrict your caloric intake that much, your body goes into "starvation" mode. It changes your metabolism in an attempt to keep your weight at an acceptable level. I'm not an expert, but I would think this would be very damaging to every system in your body. How do you even function? Are you very thin? You're probably stressing your heart.

I gotta say you freaked me out with the 150, but since i guess you meant 1500, that is ok. If you exercise or do any sort of activity that causes you to work your body, you should increase your calorie intake to at least 1700. I would recommend you increase your calorie intake to at least 1700 even if you are not exercising, just because that is a healthy amount for your age and 1500 is just a little too low.

No, your brain feeds of the nutrients you ingest. As long as you're getting the right ratio of minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates and fats, you're O.K.

Your lifestyle has more to do in determining how many calories your body needs. The text books say a number but if your lifestyle is sedentary, you don't need that many calories. You're not burning enough calories.

Now if you jog, walk everywhere and have an active busy lifestyle, then your body will crave for the calories to keep up. Your body is a lot smarter than you give it credit. Don't eat just because the "book" says you should have these many calories. Eat because you need to "replace" calories that are being "burned" through exercise and activity.

1500 appears to be fine. You did not give any figures about your body structure, weight or life style so if you're not over 6 feet and weigh around 170 and work seating down most of the time, you're doing O.K.

Increase your intake of garlic. It not only helps your heart, it keep cholesterol levels in check.

Good luck.
