Will an influenza shot (flu shot) help with Sinus Headaches at all?!

Question: I deal with sinus headaches about 3 times a year and they can be bad (like today).
There is pressure around my eyes and on top of my head, now im getting a runny nose.
Any help on how to help with sinuses and what causes this?

Possibly not. Many sinus infections are the result of allergic reactions or other persisting conditions that might be unrelated to cold or flu virual infections.

If the flu vaccine does not help, you might try keeping track of potential allergic symtpons such as runny nose or eyes, sinus congestion, nasal or eye itching, sneezing, etc. If it is an allergy, then the symptoms should respond to allergy medications or spices such as basil, oregano, sage, thyme, or parsley. If your sinuses get congested for other reasons, you could try to treat the infection with eucalyptus tea and also by crushing eucalyptus leaves and inserting them partially into the nostrils. Garlic is very effective against viral and bacterial infections when injested in 2-teaspoon portions three to five times daily for ten days. Echinacea is also effective for viral and bacterial infections, as is goldenseal.

No. The flu vaccine prevents certain strains of flu. Thats it. You need to go to a doctor.

a flu shot will not help with sinuses.

Not at all. The flu is a virus and they are not related. You may want to see a doctor. It could be allergies.

No.

Nope. The flu shot protects against serious strains of the influenza virus, not sinus headaches.

i doubt it... it's not the flu

Nope.. Influenza is a virus.. Sinus Headaches are not...

Have you tried the "nettie pot" (not sure if that's the right spelling...)

It's like a little gravy boat with a spout that cleans out your sinuses... A lot of people have raved about it.

well the flu shot will do nothing about your sinus infections.
the flu shot is to immunize you against the flu, nothing else.
you might try Zicam nasal swabs, follow the instructions.

NO. The flu vaccine has nothing to do with relieving sinus headaches. For me, AlkaSeltzer Cold & Sinus works great on sinus pressure!

flu shot no...i feel ya..i'm a sinus suffer also. Sinus pain usually means you're getting a sinus infection....antiboitics is the best solution for sinus infections. How to prevent sinus infection...get "the genie" you can find it in Walgreens. saline or salt water is the best thing for sinus suffers. Salt helps to take down swelling of the sinuses and also it's a natural antiboitic...the water flushes away all the yucky stuff.

If it's really really bad you can get sinus surgery my bf just had it done....it realy helped him and doesn't snore anymore.

The flu shot does not help my sinus headaches. I just take cold medicine geared toward head congestion to get rid of my sinus headaches.

no it wont. u probably have a sinus infection and that is what is giving u the headaches. If u dont have high blood pressure u can take an over the cold and sinus. If that does not help go see ur doctor and they will give u an antibiotic like Z pak. That should knock it out.

Sinus headaches are caused by inflammation of the sinuses. Normal healthy sinuses allow mucus to drain and air to circulate correctly. When the sinuses become inflamed, areas get blocked and mucus cannot drain, causing the pressure you have described. Is this a repeating problem that comes on with the onsent of a flu? If so getting a flu shot should prevent the sinus headaches. However, if this is the first time, then treating the flu as you would normally do the sinus headache should go when it does. Using decongestants and over the counter medication should help sinus headaches. But I'm no expert, so maybe visitng a doctor should be your first step.

No Flu shot doesn't help. For me what helps is Sudafed. I also take with it Ibuprofen. It takes few days to clear out. If you have a chronic problem you might want to go to a doctor to check for infection. I get this occasionally and the Sudafed helps out. I hope you get better.

I suffer from this too It's horrible and I find that the only effective treatment is antibiotics and a nasal spray such as Flixonase. You could also try flushing a solution of salt water through your sinuses, it stings a bit but it gives relief until the antibiotics kick in.
Whatever you do, try not to blow your nose as this can make it worse.
