Have you ever had an endoscopy?!

Question: Do they 'put you out?' (GA)

Answers: Do they 'put you out?' (GA)

I have to have an endoscopy every year to test for cancer in my stomach and esophagus. They use a local anesthetic which doesn't put you completely out. I usually can't remember much of the procedure. It is painless however. They will probably spray a numbing agent down your throat so they can insert the tube easily. If you have never had an endoscopy you shouldn't worry. It is a very simple, quick, and painless procedure.

Endoscopy is usually done under local anaesthetia and u will always be conscious.
they use local anesthetic gel lidocaine to minimise the pain
all the best

Yes i had for my chronic hyperacidity and i was on local anesthesia which was a spray on my throat

never heard of it are you in iceland??

No I haven't but the procedure is somewhat worrying for the patient. I imagine that they will give some Valium to keep you calm and local anesthetic of course. Do let me know how it goes. Best wishes Philip.

I had it done and it was NOT a local. It went so well that I did not feel any bad affects at all.

they will put you out, if you want. you'd just have to stay longer at the hospital! or you could be sedated if you preferred! diane.

When i had my endoscopy they gave me a iv that put me out. I didnt feel anything. I little sore throat after but that was it.
