Why do we have hiccups ?!


Question: It is a spasm of the diaphragm, can be caused by anything that may irritate it. Eating or drinking to quickly...etc.

Hiccups are caused from spasms of the spleen , or so I am told. You can beat them by breathing in and out slowly and normally

Lack of oxygen

I learned in biology last year that is has something to do with your brain, and not your digestive system-but i somehow find that unlikely....Like how could hiccups mean that your brain is being odd?? Unless ofcourse it had something to do with nerves sending signals to your brain and they weren't being sent correctly....then that would make sense:)

when we breath and swallowweird(like when laughing), spit can get in our lungs and break up the flow of air;hiccups result.
