Headrush...?!

Question: Why do I get headrushes alot??
Its when Im like sitting on the computer alot and stand up or when I stand up from watching tv. I am a teen...

Why does this happen? I get them like 3 times a week max. Usually tho when I do get them I get them 2 times a day...
Usually my vision just gets blurry and I kinda feel numb for about 5 - 10 seconds.

What causes this?

You're standing up too quickly, and probably have low blood pressure. It's possible that you're anemic. Pull down your lower eyelids. They should be red. If they have little color, you are probably anemic. You need to have your blood pressure checked (They're happy to do that for you at any fire station. The ones in drug stores aren't that great. They do give you an idea though.) To get a blood test for anemia, you'd have to see your doctor. If you don't eat a lot of meat, it could be an iron definciency. If the doctor puts you on iron supplements, don't be alarmed if your stools are black and tarry. That just means the iron is working.

Good luck to you! :)

The same thing happens to me everyday!
All I know is that its genetic. It happens to my mom & my grandma too.

Probably orthostatic hypotension a.k.a. blood pressure that drops (leaves your head) when you stand too fast, turn too fast or have a big temperture shock. I got it and so does my mom but my vision doesn't blurr. I see sparks/stars/tiny fairy dots due to the loss of blood flow to the optic nerve. I make me dizzy. Sometimes my legs buckle. Good news is, its not harmful if you just remember to move a bit slower. No more jumping up at the morning alarm and falling on my face; )

You might have low blood pressure. Low blood pressure is pressure that is so low that it causes symptoms or signs due to the low flow of blood through the arteries and veins. If insufficient blood flows to the brain, for example, brain cells do not receive enough oxygen and nutrients, and a person can feel lightheaded, dizzy, or even faint. Going from a sitting or lying position to a standing position often brings out these symptoms.
