Per Diem??? Working at a hospital, what does it mean?!

Question: I go to school and want to work part time about 20 hr/wk. Do you have to work a full day in order to be considered per diem? Do per diem employees get benefits?

Working per diem=by the day, not a salary or even hourly rate. It's a by-the-day rate and probably doesn't include benefits but does get your foot in the door with that particular facility.

Edit to answer your additional details: Whatever they purport the day to be. A half-day would probably be halved paywise for that day, but the per diem contract generally wouldn't allow it in writing. Payroll would straighten those out manually.

Per Diem means "per day" and usually refers to a travel stipend (ie, $50/day for meals, cabs etc)
