What are the dangers of Anemia?!

Question: Ok, If any of this matters..
I'm a female
I'm 15
5'8"
105 lb's
And about 3 months ago, my doctor told me I had severe Anemia. So she prescribed me some Iron pills to take twice a day. But I haven't taken any of them. (Please don't ask why)
Even before I found out I was Anemic, I had extremely low energy levels. But I just thought It was part of my personality (How dumb).
But lately, I've noticed It's been EXTREMELY low. (I can barely even get up for school, I was late every day this week).
And, I also noticed that I've been forgetting things easily.
Example: I was in Biology yesterday while the teacher was teaching, and by the end of the lecture I forgot what he said at the beginning..
I also noticed, I've been very weak. Example:
I was trying to put my books in my bookbag at the end of the day, and by the time I was done, I was out of breath. Literally.

I also find it hard to stay motivated, and enthusiastic.

Is this normal?
Is it normal to lose memory?
Thank you.

Go see your doctor. Yes it is normal to lose your memory but soon you will be having dizzy spells and will feel nauseated. Before long you will faint from either extreme heat or extreme thirst. Be careful. Start the iron pills and then try to get better

Uh, then you need to take your iron pills. It's not like your iron pills were just a suggestion.. Take them, and eat good food, and I bet you'll start feeling better.

yes you are killing yourself take the iron and eat food high in iron also

Do as the doctor says.

You should really eat more. Here are some foods that are high in iron

Canned clams; Fortified dry cereals; Cooked oysters; Organ meats (liver, giblets); *Fortified instant cooked cereals; Soybeans, mature, cooked; Pumpkin and squash seed kernels, roasted; White beans; Blackstrap molasses, 1 Tbsp; Lentils, cooked; Spinach, cooked from fresh; Beef (chuck); Kidney beans; Sardines; Beef(rib); Chickpeas; Duck, meat only; Lamb shoulder; Prune juice.
Try not to depend on the pills, it's really easy to get addicted. Depend on your food and diet. Also certain foods have been found to interfere with iron absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, and these foods should be avoided in persons with established iron deficiency. They include tea, coffee, wheat bran, rhubarb, chocolate, chewing gum, red wine, and dairy products.
Eat more! I mean 105lbs. at 5'8 is really really thin. It might be that you are not getting enough iron in your diet.Drink lots of water, it helps you digest.

you need to go visit your doctor again tell him the truth. Start taking your pills

Iron helps to produce hemoglobin. hemoglobin takes oxygen to the blood which feeds the cells along with other nutrients.

If you are anemic and not treating it by taking your iron it is no wonder that you are lethargic, losing memory, breathless, weak. All of those are symptoms of anemia.

Try taking those pills. I dont want to know why you dont. = ) but it would be good for your health most likely. So, try them and you will feel alot better. Iron helps you regain oxygen in your blood.

Eat healthy meals, get some exercise and take those iron supplements! Also, your symptoms reminded me of my preg symptoms, could that be it?

Well. Lets see. You're obviously dumb enough not to take the pills that your doctor told you to take, so maybe your just too dumb to remember what your teacher said? The rest of the stuff is normal for people who are diagnosed with severe "taikyurpil" anemia. Ask your doctor if you have that.

I'm sorry for such a misfortunes. My best suggestion at this moment is to follow the doctor description. About other side effects, probably it's just the common effect people usually get when they're sick. Don't worry about it. You'll be okay.

I have Anemia, honestly just take the pills okay? What I do is take them in the morning with my orange juice, it soon becomes a habit.

Take your iron pills! Your doctor gave them to you for a reason!
Eat foods that are rich in iron, but eat a balanced diet overall (lean meats like chicken breast, spinach(which is rich in iron), green/dark leafy vegetables, drink juice, lowfat milk, etc.) Don't forget to eat breakfast.
Your BMI, which is 15.963, is below the healthy range for 15 year olds (which should be 16.3 - 24.0).

If you have been fasting, please understand that it is very important to eat because food is your body's natural fuel. What fuel do you have to burn at all for energy throughout the day if you are not eating a balanced diet?

Keep your hands and feet warm (gloves, socks) if you find that they get cold easily (a lot of anemic people do) and take your iron pills.

=^O
your super skinny! i'm only 13 and 5'4" and weigh 110.
lucky you =]
anyways, yes, you should take them iron pills because i heard that if your body is low on iron you really do start "slowing" down. my mom thinks i might need pills like that.
but anyways, good luck!

i would go to your doctors again. and i would tell him what has been happening to you in the past week.

Hello?!? Always do what the doctor tells you to. And if there is any medical reason you aren't taking the pills tell your doctor that, she will find another way to help you. No offense but man you are stupid to just reject what your doctor says and then post this question asking if it's normal.
