How do I book a doctor's appointment? (I'm 15)?!

Question: I have an embarrassing problem which I do not wish to tell my parents about, so I plan on booking an appointment in my local doctors surgery.

I was wondering whether it will be confidential, also whether they would be able to provide me with any medication for the problem, as I'm only 15.

Thank you :)

You can book an appointment yourself and the doctor will keep the consultation confidential. He will also be able to prescribe for you. If the problem was a serious one he might ask for your permission to inform your parents, however, you do not have to agree to this. At any rate your problem does not sound very serious. One of the judgements I always use in these situations is what is in the best interests of the patient and whether they are mature enough (regardless of age) to understand the advice and information exchanged. A 15 year old patient like yourself, who obviously has sense enough to seek medical advice for condition that is worrying them would certainly be considered mature. I have attached a good web link for your information. Good luck with everything.

Same as anyone else. Call the doctor's office, and they will scheduale you an appointment.

You cannot, you are not of legal age. I suggest you sit down with the parent you feel most comfortable with and discuss this. That's what parents are for, to help you and take care of you.

If you have a problem, best to take care of it quickly, rather than later when things could get serious.

call the doctors office and it will be confidential unless ur parents are close with the doctor then they'll find out sooner or later.. anyway call up and make an appointment what could u have that u dont want ur parents to find out anyway!!!! bc if the doctor thinks they should know they will call!! i mean not all doctors some follow the straight patient confidentially(sp) law.. some dont best of luck!

Call your surgery and ask for an appointment, theyll give you options and you choose. Also you could just go to your surgery and do the same.

No one is going to tell your parents. It will be confidential unless they see something very worrying in you. If its a simple physical thing I very much doubt they will tell your parents. If it could be serious then they would recommend you tell your parents if you need further tests or something. They may also tell your parents if you have some serious mental issues that you may harm yourself or someone else. but it would not be necessary for a lot of things, doctors are busy enough!
Prescriptions are free as you are in full time education, you'll just need to sign the form to say this.

it is 100% confidential

they only have to inform your parents if its absolutely necessay, ie life threatening

just get the number for your surgery and ask to make an appointment

and yes, they can prescribe you meds

xxxx

don't do this alone..discuss your problem with parents first..
check your calender for your schedule and then tell the doctor which timing is best for you..they will schedule accordingly..keep your calender with you while discussing appointments with them
Surgery is a serious and expensive..you have to discuss with mom and dad before making critical decision if you are under 18.

As you are a minor, the doctor will book you an appointment if you call but is required to notify your parents . The best thing to do is to go to a school counselor and have them help. They may be able to get this done without your parents knowing.

i do not know to which place you belong to, but if you need medical help you must make an appointment.
the booking varies from place to place.
do not be embarrassed to tell your problems to your parents, but if thats difficult confide with some adults who can really help.
never go to your friends for serious problems, because they are also young as you are , hence may not be mature enough to give valuable help.
if it is something related to surgery, your parents will definitely know, because you need rest from a day to few weeks depending on the seriousness of your problem.
since you are only 15, you need an adult to accompany you.
so don't hesitate to talk to an adult.
doctors will usually never tell their patient's problems to others.
hope this helps.

Phone the Surgery and make an appointment with your doctor.

The tricky part may be the prescription for medication but the Doctor can explain in full.

At 15 you can make and attend a doctors without parents consent or knowledge.

See the doctor then find out your options.

Phone the surgery, ask for an appointment with DR { whoever } the best time for you would be after school { tell them that & what time you finish } your DR, is not allowed to discuss any matter with your parents, it is private, if it is something that needs a perscription they will give you one, but I'm not sure at 15, that you are allowed to sign your own, I think it may be 16, but check with the DR,

Going to the doctors with embarrassing problems is all part of growing up - we all have to do it from time to time, and the doctors are used to it. If it's something you are worried about, perhaps it might be a good idea to talk to your Mum or Dad about it too, or perhaps a school nurse if you can't so you can have some support. If it's pretty straightforward, and lots of embarassing problems are, just give your surgery a call, don't forget to say if you would like a male or female doctor, as you can often choose. If it's something sexual, it might be a better idea to go to a sexual health clinic. Lots of places have drop in ones, hospitals, health centres and youth centres. I'm sure you could find one near you by looking on the internet. Sometimes you need to make an appointment ahead of time, and sometimes you can just turn up, so it's a good idea to phone them before you go to check. Although going there might be a bit daunting, they deal with sexual problems all day every day, and they'll know a lot more about them than your doctor.
Loads of young people go to the doctors on their own, so don't feel self conscious about it. It shows you are sensible and responsible that you want to get it checked out. Like others have said, your visit will be completely confidential - your parents don't get to see the doctors notes, and there is no problem with them giving you a prescription for medication.
I hope you get your problem sorted!

I believe you can visit the doctor on your own at fifteen. The only thing that would need your parent's permission is if you were to request birth control. In the U.K. you need to be sixteen or have the consent of a parent to be prescribed it. Good luck.
