I had a fever of 102.2, and now...?!
Question: I put a cold wash cloth on my face and it seems to holding steady at 101.5. But I'm freezing!! What temperature is high enough to go to the emergency room (it's after midnight here). I'm 25. My head is pounding.

Sounds kind of like the flu. you're freezing because of the fever, not because of the cold wash cloth. Take some ibuprofen or Tylenol, to reduce the pain and fever.
When your temp reaches 104 is when you should hit the hospital, cause that would be an indication of an infection and your body is working hard to fight it off but it's over working.
But if the fever you have now doesn't go away after 24hrs, you should go and see your doctor to check for an infection.
Your best bet is to take a fever reducer (if you have one). Wrap yourself up well to increase heat, it should assist in breaking your temperature. The highest I have let fever go before visiting the doc is 103.00 - I just recently got the "crud" and had a fever of about 102.3 or so - was able to kick it within 2 hours.
I would go now
take 3 aspirin and i know you will hate it but take a temped shower or bath ,not hot .the temped water will help bring down the fever .but you want to watch for other symptoms if it persists than you want to go to the doctor for sure .but a high fever can cause a headache,dont let it get any higher
I had viral meningitis once really bad. I had a fever around 102 with the worst pain of my life in my head. If it feels like your head is going to burst, you have visual disturbances, nausea, light sensitivity or vomiting go to the E.R. Basically rate your pain from 1-10, 10 being the worst. If your headache is 8 or above, or is the worst headache of your life don't take any chances. I hope you are ok and feeling better. It is advised that if an adult has a fever of 103 or higher or has a fever that lasts for 3 days should be seen by a Dr right away.
