Speech is only represented by approximately 500 Hz to 4000 Hz. So if you hearing loss is mostly at 8000 Hz that probably does not affect your everyday living much. However, once the loss has started it will only continue to decline gradually. So wear your ear protection whenever possible. Even though you have hearing loss at 8000 Hz you can still hear at 8000 Hz as long as the sound is louder so you can hear it. When looking up information on what kinds of sounds are 8000 Hz the closest thing I can come up with is bird chirping is from 4000 Hz to 8000 Hz depending on the bird.
