How can i switch off and get to sleep?!


Question: i have troble drifting off and when i eventually do i end up waking up at about 4am, i dont want to take sleeping pills can anyone help?

Try reading. If I cant get to sleep, I grab a book and read it untill I am mentally exauhsted. I would then fall asleep less than five minutes after I put the book down. If its late and you really need to get to bed, I would reccomend a boring book. If your interested in the book, you get a small jolt of excitement and it keeps you up a little longer, but if the reading is very "blah" you wont get interested and your mind will shut down quickly.

4am is not too bad assuming you fell asleep around 11 ish .. I for one am up at 6.00 am so 4 am wouldnt bother me as long as I got between 5 or six hours kip..

There are natural teas, herbs and capsules that help you sleep. One is Valerian root.

Also, playing classical music always helps me sleep. Some gentle Beethoven maybe.

Same thing happens to me, just watch TV, I know it seems counter-productive but if your just sitting there in quiet your mind wanders, with TV your preoccupied, and try going to bed when your extremely truly tired, not just physically, but mentally.

I would actually go to a doctor for sleeping pills, because they help adjust your time clock and you don't have to take them for more than 3 weeks.

But if you're like me and don't like any drugs, I take melatonin, which is a natural hormone that is secreted in the peneal gland when it starts getting dark and makes us sleepy. Also Valerian Root is a great herb, but sure is stinky.

This may sound weird, and not that I want to turn you into a alcoholic, but if you take a little drink right before bed, it would have you sleepy in no time...tilll the morning too. or, you just do push ups and crunches until you are numb..or you can read..lol.this is the fastest guarateed way to fall asleep.It does seem to me that you have alotof things on your mind.. because I have the same experience..Until you clear your mind and deal with what you have to, you would not get a good night's rest...
