My doctor said she will prescribe Phentermine?!

Question: for me to "assist" in my weight loss goal.

If she prescreibes it, it should be safe, right?

There is NO drug that is completely safe or have no side effects. I guess you will just have to see if you can tolerate it and put up with the side effects. The best way to lose weight is exercise and eat less calories. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, boulion broth, slim fast or a similar diet replacement meal and no junk food. Walking is the best exercise, up hills if possible. I lost 23lbs in 6 weeks from watching what I ate and lots of walking. No drugs. Give it a try before you start on drugs. My Dr. tried me on weightloss pills but the side effects were worse than the weight until I made up my mind to lose weight. You have to do this everyday and learn to make it your new way of life. After the drugs stop, the weight will come back if you don't learn how to go it alone.

No, nothing is ever 100% safe I am on prescribe anti depressents that actually cause more sucicidal thoughts and depression.......you will want to reasearch the drug and see the sideaffects and sooo forth

No medication is completely safe. Most people do fairly well with Phentermine. I took it about 18 years ago when it was in combo with another medication (Phen-Fen). Unfortunately, there were several deaths related to that combo, so they took it off the market.

If you're wondering, yes it worked for me. I didn't even realize I wasn't eating as much. Plus the first few pounds I lost gave me the urge to try walking at lunch for 10 minutes, then 15, then 20, then 30. I wish I could do that again (the walking). I loved going out at lunch, but I can't anymore due to severe osteoarthritis - already had one knee replaced and waiting to have the other one done.

Anyway, good luck, and as soon as you can come off the meds, do so.

I have taken it in the past - lost 65 lbs.
It worked for me. I had three other girlfriends on it and it worked for them as well.
You will have to go back and have your Doctor check your blood pressure every month.
Good Luck
