Question: How often should a person poop? I have discussed this seriously with my room mates and boyfriend, and we all have different opinions. my boyfriend thinks theres something wrong with me bc i poop every other day, but im pretty sure i learned that anywhere between 3-7 times a week is completely normal and all bodies digest differently. He seemsto think he should be at least once a day. I know something is wrong when you poop less than once a week or once a month...does anyone know for sure?

As long as the poop looks healthy, everything will be normal. Okay, not if you poop once in the two weeks, but I nguess that speaks for itself.
It is like you said: it has all to do with the metabolism of the person and what he/she has been eating.

Well if you have a kebab once in a while i don't think you can ask..

i asked my doctor about this before and he explained that everyone is different and diggestion happens at different rates in everyones body. every 1-3 days is considered normal.

I think the answer is: it depends how much you eat.

If you eat more then then you will do it more often.

and I would agree with you that it will depend on the rate of your metabolism which is different for different people.

I think 3-7 times a week sounds fine.

It depends largely on your diet. People who have more fibre and less proteins will probably evacuate at least once a day. I think that that is healthy, to rid the body of toxins. Diets high in proteins will take longer.

There's a wide variety to "normal" - some several times a day, others several times a week.

The doctor guideline given for my elderly father (who had a tendency to get constipated due to inactivity) was basically "don't let more than 3 days go by with no action" - if so, it was time for lots of water, Citrucil, and moving/walking as much as possible.

Besides, who's your boyfriend to judge your frequency- isn't he being a little anal? :-D

as per ancient notes from Indian transcripts.. u need to do twice a day.
sex - twice a week
oil bath - twice a month
enema (clearing ur body digestive system) - twice a year

My mother poops about 3 times a day which is completely abnormal for a person but her system is very fast so there is no problem. I only poop twice a week which is still pretty normal. I would say between 1-7 times a week. Once a day is fine.

It mostly depends on not how much you poop but what it looks like. It should be a normal brown color. If its anything else you better find out why immediately because that could mean serious problems for you.
