Been feeling ill since Sunday, went to the doctor and was told I have an infecti!

Question: Been feeling ill since Sunday, went to the doctor and was told I have an infection. But... HELP?
Even since Sunday I have been ill. I went to see the doctor and have been put on medication (amoxycillin 250mg) and Co-Codamol (8/500).. But doesn't seem to be working. I am having problems with my breathing, shaking, headaches, sore throat, cold AND hot sweats, feeling sick and am totally off my food. According to the doctor it SHOULD have gone / gotten better. Should I go back or just suffer in silence ? Could it be something bad?

Sounds like the good dose of the flu which of course can turn nasty. Pneumonia can be a worry with flu's so don't let this go on. Go back to the doctor a.s.a.p. Better to be safe than sorry, and anything with breathing troubles is cause for concern. Lemon slices in hot water, (drink tepid) with an unprocessed honey is good support for the body, as they apparently impart minerals and they also have bacteria fighting properties.

Also for taking anti-biotics it is a good idea to get an Acidophilis supplement to keep your digestive tract healthy for long term health. I hope you're not going thru this on your own. Make sure you let some-one know that you are sick with this. And most of all, don't feel that your doctor has all the answers. If you are not satisfied with his judgement, please say so. I know many people think doctor knows best, but thats not always the case, as I found out with my son who ended up with bleeding kidneys because of a doctors wrong diagnosis. Be pro-active about your health.

Let us know how you get on?

Give it a few more days. If you are not better by Monday go back to the doctor. Antibiotics can take up to a week to work. Be sure to take them all. Drink plenty of fluids to help wash the germs out of you.

I would really suggest you go back to your doctor. If your doctor said you should be better by now and you're not, then you might have something other than what was first diagnosed and that would be why the medicine isn't working. Especially go back if you're not feeling any better at all by tomorrow. If you're still not sure what to do, some doctors' offices have a phone number patients can call to leave questions with their doctors or nurses. You could call your doctor and ask advice. Hope you feel better soon!

you should start improving within 48 hours of starting the antibiotic, if it has been longer than that, call your doctor.

You sound like me. I went back and told them I was not better despite the antibiotics. I got a prescription for another antibiotic and now I finally feel better. Go back friend! No need to suffer. If you have health insurance or if you have the money to visit a doctor then do so.

sometimes it takes longer for antibiotics work. just make sure you drink fluids. to and if stay hydrated. if your having a fever take some tylenol fever reducer. then if your not better by next week. go back to the doctor so they can run more test on you.

if you're living in england, there's a slight contagous plague thingy going around, hah, its not a plague as such but its a highly contagous cold with those sort of symptoms, it took about a week for it to wear off for me, so you might start feeling better soon
