You probably couldn't smell anything, because your nose is so congested. I wouldn't worry too much about a tiny tiny bit of blood with flem. You probably had to cough really hard to get that out. If it continues for a few more days or just feeling really bad you should go see your doctor. Maybe go to the store and get some medicine to see if that helps you feel better first. Get a cold medicine that says decongestant and/or expectorant. If your throat is sore make sure to get a syrup to soothe it.

I have experienced this same symptom (bloody mucus) many times, too. Since you haven't mentioned that you have excessive cough accompanied with chest pain with every cough, this is pretty common when your sinuses are so irritated to the point of feeling raw. And if you have been taking any oral form of decongestant in addition to the nasal spray for at least 4 days, it's also common to have these dried mucus "clots" (brownish dried blood, semi-circular or roundish shaped) that hurt your sinus for a day or 2 until you hawk it up. If you do have painful cough with the bloody mucus, then you need to see a doc ASAP, because that's a sign of possible Bronchitis or Pneumonia.
