Does anyone have Restless Leg Syndrome? What are the symtoms?!

Question: I think I have it but I'm not sure....I swear I never even heard of it until those commercials came out and that's when I started getting weird feelings in my legs when trying to fall asleep. I think the commercials have sublimial messages that causes people to get it....Basically I have this weird feeling in my legs and I want them amputated... Like I feel like they can fall off... The other night they started twitching right before I fell asleep. I found out that 2 of my sisters have it, is it genetic?

Lol @ restless leg syndrome. Get up and do some exercise sheesh...

I cannot say that I have it, but sometimes I wonder. The feeling of laying in bed and wanting to get up and do something is just frustrating as heck. For me, I know that my body is tired at night, but when I lay down, my legs keep wanting to move, like I'm holding them down or something. It also makes my legs feel tense, like I'm trying to hold them up, or clenching my muscles.

I'd also like to hear what others have to say about this. Sorry that I haven't really answered your question, though.

my friend has RLS. the symptoms are prickly, tingling, crawling sensations in your legs. you have the need to get up and move around no matter how tiered you are.

My sister had this before I killed her. Symptoms are a leg bouncing up and down so often that the pictures fall off the walls and everyone around you thinks there is an earthquake going on.

im beginning to think it may be genetic, but havent heard it from a doctor, my daughter and i both have the sudden urge to move . my family says sometimes i look like im running in my sleep.

I BELIEVE IT IS GENETIC BUT TO MY RESEARCH .................................. Restless legs syndrome causes uncomfortable and sometimes painful sensations in the legs described as tingling, "pins and needles," prickling, pulling, or crawling. The sensations cause an irresistible urge to move your legs. Movement may temporarily relieve the discomfort. This usually happens at night while you are trying to rest.

Once you fall asleep, your legs may begin to jerk or move involuntarily. These movements, called periodic limb movements, can wake you from sleep, adding to problems with fatigue. Periodic limb movements may also occur during the day, although you may not recognize them as a problem. While periodic limb movement is considered a separate condition, it often occurs with restless legs syndrome. I hope you get to feeling better! With lots of love Sara. ;)

I saw (only once mind you) an expose about that on TV.

A large pharmaceutical company had come up with a drug they tested and found that it provided no effect near what had been intended but was not harmful either. Its effects were noted to have a slight bearing on the legs(I cannot remember this part) so their marketing department decided that they would submit it plus the evidence of efficacy regarding legs for approval. All they needed now was a disease which some archivist was clever enough to devise from files about miscellaneous complaints that seemed to go nowhere. So since we now have a cure why not come up with a disease ?

Tah Dah ! just the breakthrough we've all been waiting to hear about an age old syndrome has finally been cured by the heroic effforts of those most beneficent of all institutions the Pharmaceutical Industry !

This also qualified as one of the those so-called "Orphan Ailments" reputed to be ignored by Pharmaceutical Companies for eons. So go take their pill and be grateful you have helped solve the financial woes of the drug companies, while at the same time performing an invaluable "Green" activity of recycling a worthless prescription drug and all the while helping forward the cause of the "Orphan Desease" recognition.

I wonder if this could have happened with a NON REPUBLICAN in the white house ?

This is like the creationism science and the poopy-**** global warming that prevails in DC.

Good Health to you !
