Accidentally breathed in significant amounts of toner?!

Question: It had been my first time refilling toner on a laser printer, and I made a mistake that caused a significant amount of toner to go all over the place; particularly, a noticeable poof of black powder in the air. I think I might have accidentally breathed in some of it, although not enough to make me cough.

As far as i understand, toner is composed of plastic, iron, and some pigments. Is there anything I need to worry about, or is it similar to breathing in dust?

The stuff is pretty inert. Your lungs will expel it as any other dust.

The lungs are constantly secreting mucus to clear debris out. That is why we cough, to clear debris-laden mucus out of the lungs.

Is it an HP? They're linked to cancer. lol. I'm serious! :]

btw..... lungs are moist... and they DO absorb things that are inhaled. If they expelled everything then cigarettes wouldn't cause cancer, and either would working in mines...

Ow.
Well I just quickly did a search for a random HP Toner Cartridge and for it's MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet).

If you inhaled it, get some fresh air. If any symptoms persist, get to a doctor.

If you got it in the eyes, flush with water at low temp and low pressure for about 15 minutes.

If you got it on your skin, wash the areas with soap and running water.

Hope that helps !
