What's going on? acid on my tummy and in my throat, slight chest discomfort.!

Question: the past month or so I have had problems with acid on my tummy, and I can feel it in the back of my throat and sometimes up in my nose. I never had a problem with that before. not even when I was pregnant.

the past day or two I am having some discomfort in my chest that I am unsure of.

what scares me is that sometimes this is a sign of a heart attack but I dont' think this is one.

could I just not be feeling well and run down as of late? I have been very stressed.

As for my general health, my B/P is normal, my cholesterol is ok (high level of HDL which is a good thing) but heart problems do run in the family. I did have an older sibling who was born with three heart defects and died before I was born. Usually anyone with heart problems in the family are all old.

Could my sinuses be bugging me really bad and causing my tummy to get upset? Just curious

Good answers to this. May I add:

Carbonated beverages make it worse.
Don't eat anything 3 hours prior to bedtime.
Have a check-up to reassure your mind that your heart is healthy, anxiety makes it worse.

Always drink water after the reflux happens to prevent the esophagus from eroding. Also the 'spray' from acid coming up can go into the lungs.

If possible use only over the counter meds. Too many of those RX ones have side effects.

Sounds like classic acid reflux.
This WILL mimic heart attack symptoms, so don't sweat it. Get some good prescription stuff like aciphex.

Have you considered asking your doctor about acid reflux? I had these same problems for over a year before I asked, and found out that's what it was. I'm not saying that is for sure you're problem, but I think it would be worth looking into. Acid reflux can be very painful and get much worse left untreated.

Acid reflux can feel like a heart attack, quickest way to find out is drink some Maalox or other acid reducer. If you feel better inside of a few minutes, odds are it was acid reflux.

Ways to reduce acid reflux are many.
Change of lifestyle, what you eat and drink will help you avoid acid in your tummy

Less Orange Juice and other acid fruits and drinks is one important way

Try taking an over the counter or non prescription acid reducer pill. Do not take Maalox in liquid form every day as it can cause the runs if you drink it constantly.

I don't think it's sinus.( I have the worlds worst :) ) Although sinus infections can cause nausea, It isn't the "acidy" kind. Your symptoms sound like acid reflux. There are lots of ways to treat it. Over the counter: Pepcid, Zantac and Rolaids. The best ones are prescription: Nexium and Prevacid. Give them a try.

Sounds like acid reflux.Get some Pepcid or one of the other ones that have been made over the counter now and try it.If you have any pain in your left arm or even back pain that can be heart related you should get to the E.R.Stress can cause acid reflux.I have it and I take prescription Prevacid every day.

Sounds like me

I agree acid reflux

I have it, same symtoms, I take Prevacid for it!

You probably have acid reflux. Severe heartburn comes along with that also which can cause pain in the chest. Prolosec works great for this problem but you should see a doctor to get a diagnosis before taking anything. It can cause problems if not treated. See your doctor

yeah, sounds just like acid reflux, get some prilosec...
