What are some "cures" for chapped lips?!

Question: The winter season has been harsh to my lips and they are cracked and chapped and dry!

I keep applying lip balm, but it doesn't work!

So I must resort to other tactics. Asides from lip balm and Vaseline, what are some recommendations to heal my chapped lips?

Eucerin. It works really well because regular lip balm just isn't enough doring winter for me. You get the original creme formula, slather some on your lips and you're good. I use it at night while I'm sleeping. If you use it during the day, remember to rub in well so you don't look like a white-lipped weirdo.

Olive oil is good but annoying.

I found the thing that works best for me is a thickish application on vaseline right before you go to bed and leave it on all night. Then they get a good moisturise through the night and stay softer and dont get so chapped during the day.

Good Luck.

carmex works for me

bag balm its actually for livestock but is sold for human use to apply it at night no more chapped lips in the morning

use burts bees ever night before bed, then wake up and put i on... but i find that slathering lip GLOSS [not chap stick] is very efective at hydrating, try it!

I have tried applying a very lubricated lipstick--the lightest, to my lips, every chance I get, and that has seemed to work. Like you, I too, get chapped lips in the winter but also in the summer, because it gets very hot where I live. Like you, I tired lip balm and Vaseline, which I found, made my lips worse? Then I went and bought the lipstick which has been helping. Good luck in finding your "cure" for your lips!

The number one easiest and cheapest way to solve chapped lips is to increase your water intake.

Winter months always cause dry skin both on the body and on the lips. The dry air coming from the radiator or central heating wick away all moisture from your skin.

To alleviate this you can apply a thick coat of petroleum jelly before you go to bed. During the day try to keep your mouth moist with a medicated lip balm. The medicine will help to ease the pain and itching that can be associated with severely chapped lips while the moisturizer will help heal the dryness.

Try not to lick your lips. Saliva drys out the delicate skin of the mouth. Apply the moisturizer as often as you need it. Do not worry about becoming addicted to the lip balm as this is only an old wives tale. This is all you can do until winter goes away.

When you brush your teeth, brush your lips too. Pat dry, then apply Vaseline or lip balm.
