Can you die from anemia?!

Question: Is it deadly?

I doubt it is but I'm just wondering

Answers: Is it deadly?

I doubt it is but I'm just wondering

It's rare, but it can happen in such cases as untreated Pernicious Anemia (my grandmother died of it).

However, anemia can be serious. And, it's best to avoid it.

I provided a link below. Check it out. I would also suggest doing further research on anemia on the internet.

There are many sites that go in depth regarding what foods are iron rich, what foods and beverages enhance iron absorption in the body and which foods and beverages that inhibit iron absorption.

Get as educated as you can on the topic.

The chances are you may be anemic right now and not even know it.

I speak from experience because I have suffered from anemia, the worst anemia problems I have had where when I was a teenager, the result of being on overly restrictive diets that were far from being healthy.

However, I suffered from anemia just last year despite eating a very healthy diet. Why? Because, I was eating and drinking foods that were inhibiting iron from absorbing. And, over time, along with vigorous exercise, my blood iron levels dropped.

So, do some research. It's good to know about anemia, especially as a female because women tend to be anemic far more often than men.

yes, don,t ever doubt it i had it before and the Dr. said i could die in my sleep, please see a Dr. and get this promble corrected.

I don't think so. You just need to take Iron... I think, my sis is anemic.
They told her that it might be leukemia at first and had us all freaked out. She is fine though.

Yes, you can die from being anemic.

Yes, but it is not likely. There are different kinds of anemias. Most are very easily treated.

well iron in hemoglobin delivers oxygen to your body and without it, your body will not function...it is possible to die from anemia...just like people die from sickle cell anemia

umm ya, because you don't have blood in your body, and you need some

I believe so

Yes you can, but its very unlikely if you keep in under control and you see the doctor often

yes i believe it's possible

anemia refers to a low blood count. there can be several reasons for this ranging from various vitamin deficiencies to outright bleeding. regardless, if you don't have enough red blood cells to carry oxygen to your body, you can die.

There are MANY different types of anemia. The severity of the condition depends on the cause. Yes, anemia can be fatal, but it is a rare occurrence (0.13% of anemia cases), and once again, the prognosis of each type of anemia is different. [1]

If you have anemia, just make sure you are are seeing a doctor about it and following her/his recommendations.

Well, technically, bleeding to death is dying from anemia.

I think you mean can you die from chronic, non-blood loss anemia. The answer to that is also yes. With too little hemoglobin in your serum your heart is forced to pump more blood to get the same amount of oxygen to your body. Think about a heart working twice as hard and recieving half as much energy. A quick set up for a heart attack. Often this requires an external stress like flu or an infection.

Depends, I have anemia with low iron and well, I am not dead - have to get more iron in you.....
