Is it true that if you breathe in a carrier bag your hiccups are gone?!

lol nahh...you just have to have somebody ask you what you had to eat yesterday and today =] the thought will make 'em go away

Doubt it. they are caused by a reflex action of the diaphragm
I have heard of hundreds of cures but none really work.

Hiccups are really diaphragm spasms. The diaphragm is a muscle located below the lungs. when the diaphragm contracts, it stretches the lung, causing more space, which cause the pressure in the lungs to be less than that outside the body so air flows in (inhaling). When the diaphragm relaxes, the area of the lungs is decreased cause the pressure to be greater inside the body than outside (exhaling). I don't think that breathing into a bag will help, but it may have a psychological affect if you believe it will help. good luck!

If you put your head into a carrier bag and breath eventually you will suffocate so I guess you will not have hiccups any more try my sure fire hiccup cure. Get someone to block up your ears swallow a couple of mouthfuls of water and your hiccups will be cured
