Where can a regular/normal guy go to get help without seeing a shrink or counsel!

Question: I've got some problems, but I don't think I need to see a professional. I culd use some help, but I really don't want the stigma or to have any papers following me around the rest of my life.. If you know of a place, let me know, I also need to know the price.

There is a great place you can contact at www.ilcss.org. A friend of mine saw this guy and he was real helpful. He use to be one of those shrinks, but he gave it up to work with regular people. He knows lots of junk, but never forces anything on you. My friend said there are no papers that follow you around, but you need to pay out of your own pocket. He could not afford the services, so they guy charged him a special rate.

If you see a social worker or psychologist privately, the sessions will be entirely confidential. It's only a stigma because you believe it's a stigma.

You can speak to a priest or minister.

I can't tell you the cost because I don't know where you live.

Get over the stigma...counseling is for growth of a person to be the best they can be...it may sound corny but it's true!

Thousands of 'regular', 'normal' people see psychotherapists and counsellors. In fact, as a psychotherapist, nearly all the people I see would label themselves 'normal' - they just need some help with some problems. There just isn't a stigma - you may not choose to tell other people you're seeing someone, but if you did, you might be surprised at the people who say 'oh yes, I saw someone like that last year'.

It makes sense to use the right tool for the job. If you have problems, then a counsellor or psychotherapist is the right tool to use. Some people think it's a weakness - I would say it is weak not to grab the bull by the horns and get the help you need. That's real strength.

What are your problems???
