Blood Pressure - 100 / 65?!

Question: what does this mean?

Answers: what does this mean?

If your blood pressure is that low and you have no problems, you'd better make sure you have a good pension plan, because you are at much lower risk of heart attack or stroke. If you are suffering from problems that you believe are due to you blood pressure, see your doc.

It's a little low, are you taking something for it?

You may need to drink more.

this reading is low it should be 120/80,see a doctor as low blood pressure is more dangerous than high

That is not too low unless you feel bad. That is about normal for me. If you feel okay, don't worry about it. Blood pressure does not start getting dangerously low until you start passing out or it gets down to around 50/30.

It's low. If you're petite, young and reasonably fit, it's nothing to worry about. If you're a middle-aged couch potato, see your doctor - it could be serious.

blood pressure should be 120/80 your lucky my blood pressure on friday just gone was 162/95

it is lower than average, but everyone is different, some are high, some low, if you are not having any problems with it, and the nurse was unconcerned, dont worry about it.

I have worked in healthcare for years, and your blood pressure reading is not bad. The 'standard' is something like 120/80 but then a person's blood pressure varies quite naturally over their lifetime. It also varies with the time of day.
Low blood pressure will often cause dizziness and fainting and a GP may tell the person with low blood pressure that they are suffering from orthostatic hypotension. Exercise, alcohol, a heavy meal may make the symptoms worse. SO, if you have low blood pressure, do not sit up or stand up quickly (take your time), do not remain standing for long periods, try wearing elastic hose, try increasing slightly your salt intake, drink plenty of fluids (but not alcohol, sorry). Finally, see your GP. There are drugs to take.

It's important to realize what "Normal" "Low" and "High" mean when it comes to thinking about blood pressures.

Its all based on population averages and whats normal for you may be high or low for another person.

If you aren't having any symptoms with this blood pressure then you are likely to be fine. Symptoms of a low blood pressure may be: recurrent fainting or collapse, dizziness or darkening of your vision on standing up suddenly.

The other thing to remember is that blood pressure changes every minuite and varies day to day. So a one eoff reading means very little. Before any big decisons are made it is worthwhile having a few readings done.

100/65 is much better than normal which is regarded as being 120/80. Lower down to 90/60 is much better than normal. Below 90/60 could be low blood pressure and common symptoms are faintness and actual fainting spells.

Blood pressures above 140/90 are too high and need treatment.
