Fear or puking?!


Question: im always scared of throwingup/ the stomach virus. i ALWAYS wash my hnds but i had to sit next to someone at school on friday who had the stomach vrius the day before now im sooooo sacerd ill get it. aslo, my mom tells me to stop worrying is it true that the more you worry the faster youll get sick? can you worry so muhc about throwing up that u ACTUALLLY PUke? help im so scareddd

It is true that stress compromises the immune system making it more likely that you could become ill if exposed to a virus. It is also true that stress can lead to other complex health issues. But you won't puke simply by sitting next to someone who has a stomach virus- you must contract the illness which is all up to your immunity/susceptibility. It sounds like you have an issue with germs or possibly an anxiety problem. You should seek the advice of a doctor if this interferes with your quality of life/ ability to perform day to day tasks.

I don't know about getting sick faster. but you can definitely cause yourself so much anxiety that you throw up. Try to relax, you are already doing the most important thing - washing your hands. Try carrying a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you as well.

well stress can upset your stomach and perhaps even more. Calm down, just because they had the flu does not mean u will contact it. Washing hands is best prevention. and dont create problems u dont even have. Stay healthy. u will be fine. listen to mom on this one.

i used to be afraid of puking when i was little, then i got introduced to binge drinking and overcame my fear of puking. now i do it all the time, its no big deal really lol.. and some sickness' are in the head in which you make yourself believe you're really sick when theres nothing really wrong with you.. like your 'fear or puking'

Worry lowers your immune system...& if you get very anxious it can cause nausea & gagging.

Do some deep breathing: Inhale thru your nose; exhale thru your mouth; rest. Do each for a count of 3 and do for 5 minutes at a time. Make sure your belly is inflating & deflating as you breathe.

People don't always get sick if they're near someone who is., and if you're going to get sick the only thing you can do is rest.

Take Vit. C 3000mg; Vit E 400IUs 2X/day, green tea; Zinc 50mg to build up your immunity.
