Urinary Tract Infection? Is This Normal?!

Question: so i began my medication yesterday. Im taking a antibiotic to get rid of the infection. It also turns my urine a very bright orange. I also have these pain killers. I took my first dose last night a 7 pm and it is still hurting a day later. Is this normal? About how long does it take to recover? School is tomorrow, and Im just not sure if I will be able to make it there. Please help me

I've had urinary tract infection before.Urine is supposed to turn orange.Pain killers will not kill the pain in so short a time. You have an infection,it's going to take a few days for all this to stop.Take ALL the antibiotics, you don't want this coming back. You may have to miss school a couple of days so the medication can work & so you won't be in any discomfort.Take care

i wud give it about 3 days b4 u will see ne real improvement,
but complete the course ....

The orange color is an indication of blood, which means this is a fairly bad infection. Taking a pain pill last night will have no effect on you today. With the antibiotics you may experience some relief in a few days and since it is this severe you may need a second round of antibiotics. In the mean time do not delay going when you have the urge, avoid all acidic food and drinks as well as caffeine.

Depending on the severity of the infection it can take 48 to 72 hours or more before you begin to really feel better. Drink lots and lots of liquids, preferably water and or cranberry juice, don't stop taking the antibiotics until they're all gone. Get as much rest as possible and don't drink alcoholic beverages.

Urinary tract infection is always accompanied by severe pain in the urethra and genitalia. Fever may some time supervein. Recovery takes some time (less than a week provided that you are in medication). If fever subsided and pain reduced to the level that you can tolerate it You can go to school but do not forget the time for medication ,to keep the level of antibiotics within the required threshold.

Ho can any infection be normal?Urinary tract infections are common in females and it needs to be treated with a course of suitable antibiotics along with a alkaliser. At the same time one should have plenty of oral fluids.

I think the stuff you're taking that's turning your urine orange is called Pyridium. It's a urinary tract pain reliever. It's takes a couple of days before the antibiotics kick in, so just keep taking the pain pills. You'll feel better in a couple of days.

If you are a boy it is not very normal, and it is extremely painful. Usually for men, UTI antibiotic last 14-28 days. You will probably need to be out of school for at least a couple days due to the pain.

which medication did you begin? If all you are taking is something that makes your urine orange (pyridium aka AZO) then you are not treating the infection, you are only treating the symptoms and you will not get better, you will get worse. You must see a doctor and get started on antibiotics. If you are on antibiotics (they do not turn your urine orange) then drink at least two liters of water a day and in 24 to 36 hours you will notice an improvement. Remember to take all the antibiotic as prescribed, (even if you feel better) or the infection can come back, and come back resistant to antibiotics which leaves you up a creek without a paddle in the future.
