Blood tests?!

Question: Today I have had a blood test, based on orders from a doctor. I was just wondering, I had 5 tubes of blood taken, 4 of the plastic tubes were the same size, and the 5th a little larger. The blood tests that were taken were for glandular fever screening, something to do with my live, kidney and something else too. But the box for taking blood glucose levels wasn't ticked- however if I have the risk of having diabetes (as I have been ill with closely related symptoms) would it show although my blood glucose levels WEREN'T necessarily taken ? Also, how long do I have to wait before I get the results from all of these blood tests? Cheers for all the help.

Hey, Jay D:

Congrats! You see....that wasn't soooo bad! LOL!

Let me start by saying that I am going to answer your questions according to the standards here in the USA....
The most frequently done "blood test" is a CBC or Complete Blood Count.

The test includes:

WBC...counts white blood cells
RBC- counts red blood cells
Platelet count-
Hemoglobin
Hematocrit
Differential white blood cell count
Red blood indices

What I am trying to say is, from those few tubes of blood the Dr. can tell a whole lot! How long to get the results?
Hummmm...that depends....do people over there take looooooooooooooooog lunches? LOL!!! Try and be patient...hey!... "we've come this far"...Cheer up and hold on....

they have that amount of blood to fully screen you.
