Inverted poses are the heart of a yoga practice for people over fifty. They bring emotional balance and mental clarity; by improving the flow of blood to and from the heart, they refresh and rejuvenate the entire body. The older I get, the more I appreciate the feeling of increased energy and revitalization that occurs after practicing inverted poses

Stretching daily prevents stiffening, the first visible sign of premature aging. Yoga postures promote healthy aging by lengthening the spine, opening our posture and moving each joint in the body through its full range of movement.

The reason- feet do not get red while standing is simply this fact- blood circulation at the peripheries is very , very slow and veins carry unoxygenated blood.TOWARDS the heart. And the HEART has a lot of large coronary arteries(5 to be exact) carrying oxygenated blood.AWAY from the heart. . So the answer is because of anatomy the head is in proximity to the heart and besides the heart is not located in the feet.

good question. blood only flows one way through the circulatory system. muscles (mostly in the heart) contract to ensure your blood flows the right way all the time. can't stay in the feet long, because that is our natural position, and the muscles push it out of their fast. Hand-Standing upside down is not natural, so the body will react different.

Hope that helps!
