whooboy doggie! you sure pissed in the smokers cheerios with this question. God I love it, hehe!

My brother was a dope fiend and a smoker, he used to say that very thing (that quittin cigs was worse than kicking H.)
He was referring to the psychological draw of cigarettes, it's insideous. At least with heroin, once your physically free of the drug, it doesn't call your name in the night as often.

The only successful people i know that use are musicians and entertainers. Did dope kill them or damage their careers, yes-------------------but they were a success while high.

I've been in the trenches with the dealers, I know that addiction is not just for scuzzbags---it wants everybody! Suzy housewife & 12 year old johnny, big time executives, doctors lawyers, scientiists,...I'd love it if all the ruffled feathers would come down off their high horse (no pun intended) and just realize the value and validity of your question,...to which my short response is; PERHAPS!

no

If I ever meet an H user that has a good life, I will shake that man's hand (while wearing about 15 gloves).

no any addiction is bad and nothing to be proud of

I am a smoker and I can't remember the last time a broke into an old lady's house, beat her up and stole her pension to buy myself some fags.

err hey children don't use drugs

good question but both will kill you. by the way how many H users do you really know that hold down a good job ect? all the ones i have seen are beggers and theives

im a smoker and i work with heroine addictics amongst other people......ive never ever met one who has a full time job and 2 kids who they take to the park on a sunday afternoon.
However, we shouldnt look down on them as they need help not critisism.

And people that smoke cigarettes don't lead good lives? Dude the withdrawel you get from Heroin is nothing like the withdrawel you get from nicotine. After a week of coughing and feeling down the dumps after smoking cigarettes isn't even half as bad when you try and stop Heroin. Plus most of the quitting process of smoking is to give up the habit of oral fixations you have. Heroin you body ends up depending on it. People don't go into rehab for nicotine.

I am an ex-smoker and I don't recall ever being homeless in a park because I spent all my rent money on Marlboros, or robbed a store to get money to buy a pack of Newports from the dealer on the corner.
Show me a heroin addict who has a successful job who leads a good life and I'll show you a meth-head who is the CEO of a major company...geez, you need to grow up.

I will jump on the bandwagon and agree that a current addicted Heroin user is just incapable of going about a 'normal' life with a job and kids, and have NOTHING about his life negativelly impacted by his/her drug use.

I believe that a LOT of people find that cig smoking when compared to the other addictions really is mild. Does ONE drag of a cigarette have the capability to drop you dead right then? can you die from an overdose of cigs (in one night), does getting to the end of a pack of cigs make an indiviudal freak knowing they can't get anymore until payday, or they get some money. Cigs are expensive, but compared to Heroin or Cocaine, well....

I have heard that stopping smoking is more difficult than illegal drugs. Stopping an illegl drug however has more motiviation behind it. You stop smoking crack and your life gets better immediately. You have money, you GET UP during the day, you can work, your brain can think about other things apart from drugs.

I know withdrawl can make some people sick, I know that must be hard, but after getting through that, I would think it would be easy not to do Herion again.....

I would think folks smoke heavier after giving up an illegal drug addiction, and again, I say let them smoke. If they are 'clean', cigs in comparison, are minor.

silly comparison... h or horse ruins your life and those around you...smoking also ruins your life but to a lesser dgree...AND very few smokers resort to crime to feed their " habit" !!!

To be honest i think your a H addict and your trying to get advice from people i maybe wrong but why stick up for these sick people that take drugs and kill them selfs?
I know smoking is the same but as other people said smokers dont rob old people and rob banks, smokers dont sleep rough and i dont believe for one minute that someone told you that teachers and professional people take heroine this is total rubbish!!
Your in a dream world mate if you belive that.

addiction is addiction.. the substance to which one is addicted is of no consequence to the illness itsself.. the ciggy smoker is an addict, the junkie is an addict. the only real difference is that one has a 'nice' legal addiction, the other has a 'nasty' illegal one. the problems lie in legality, not substances. make H legal and then addicts can get their supplies clean and sensibly priced.. their addiction will become less 'out there' and they will then be able to receive the same help in quitting their addiction as smokers get.
just in passing.. think on this.. if tobacco and alcohol were only to be discovered tomorrow, they would both be classed as Class A drugs, illegal to own or traffic in.. same as heroin is today.....
