I'm miserable...should i go to the doctor? or is this just a cold?!

Question: i'm completely miserable and can't decide if i should make an appointment at my college's health center tomorrow or wait this out.
i started out with a wheezy cough 4 or 5 days ago and it hurt in my chest when i would breathe in deep. over the next couple days i my throat started to hurt a little and i kept getting a tickle feeling in my throat that made me cough more. yesterday i felt gradually worse throughout the day and i hardly slept last night because i kept coughing and my whole head, ears, and throat hurt.
today has been horrible and i'm sneezing and blowing my nose pretty much non-stop, my throat hurts when i swallow, my ears and head feel like they're going to burst, and i'm having constant drainage in the back of my throat.
i've been taking otc cold medicine, drinking as much water as i can, resting, and eating chicken noodle soup all day.
do you think this is just a cold and if so is there anything else i can do to feel better? should i see a doctor?
thanks!!

I does sound like you have a cold, but a severe one. If you don't have a fever, the nurse or Dr. will no doubt tell you they can't do anything for you, except for what you're doing already. If you're getting these colds every couple months, you might want to make some changes in your life. Eat well, take a daily vitamin, drink plenty of OJ, and always change your tooth brush often. Good luck, and I do hope you feel better soon.

Go to the doctor, don't torture yourself.

keep the appointment, they may find things on exam that point to a bacterial infection that would need antibiotic. hang in there and keep doing what you have been for yourself

why wouldn't you? you must like the worry and suffering. get antibiotics so you can move on with your life.

Sweetie , please go to the doctor and help minimize your suffering ; do not tough it out and let it develop into something more serious - take care of yourself , I wish that you were not so miserable and that you would feel better .
