What is the most tactful way to ask someone to cover or wash their feet?!

Question: My roommates feet smell quite bad, and are actually keeping friends from entering our room when he has his shoes off. He also has a tendancy to read on his bed with his feet exposed (his bed is nose level). I just feel mean and awkward asking him to get out and wash his feet, or cover them with airtight medical grade plastic.

He prolly doesn't realize it, being that they're HIS feet - I'd think he would rather have you tell him even if it's not totally smooth than allow it to continue to keep people away. If he plays sports or does any activity that would cause his smelliness, perhaps you can say, "Hey there Jim-Bob, I know that your underwater basket weaving gives you quite a workout, and everyone thinks you're a huge asset to the team - but sometimes when you get home and take your shoes off, the smell is a little strong for those of us who aren't used to the wide world of sports." or - "Hey man, if I were you, I'd get my money back on those shoes, every time you take them off, it smells awful, I don't think they were made very well."

strait up tell him his feet stink and tell him to buy new shoes. tell him hes dirty. insults usually do the trick.

Just buy him some nice soap/feet freshner, type of thing presented in a nice box, then it will seem less insulting!
