How to calm the fcuk down for a music audition?!

Question: Ok, so I have this music audition with my band tomorrow...

I play bass, by the way...

And just before we get on I always get sweaty hands, dizziness and I feel physically sick >_<

Over reacting - I know, but I can't help my body's reactions.

So yeah, tomorrow I have this bass solo to do, and its a pretty difficult one, and I'm nervous cause its my first stage appearance with my new bass

Does anyone have some calming methods...
Or anything like that!?

Yeah, thank you ^_^

As a comedian and actor I too am often put on the spot for auditions. The sweaty hands, dizziness, etc are normal reactions. Did you know that one of the elder singers, Barbara Streisand has to force herself to go on stage when she has a gig? That is why she rarely plays, and yet she is a phenomenal talent for her genre. What I remind myself of is the fact that I have never lost an audition/part because of nervousness. The very best defense against audition fear is to be totally prepared. Know what you're going to do and go over it over and over again in your head. Visualize yourself on stage going through the chords and with your eyes closed see yourself playing that solo. That's how I do it anyway. I get most of the gigs I audition for. Good luck and let me know how you do. I'm putting my confidence in you, you do the same.

Sailor Jerry's!

Don't you know that true rockstars go out on stage all hopped up on goofballs? Pffft. You'll never make it big...............hey just kidding good luck

a bottle of vodka would do. Yeah!

wheni had audtions, for music things i was in two boy bands(i know gay right) and i was a solo artist for 4 years before joining the Army, i would imagine everyone in the room that was judging me was naked, i got a kick out of that one, try it, good luck music is the key to peoples souls, unlock them

I like to just tell one thing to myself before I perform.

I am creating something wonderful and what I think only counts.
You have to let go of the fact that other people are listening. You have to just play for yourself and the joy of making music!

That hair owns.

Transfer all your emotions into that funky hair, and you'd be cool

1) Take a deep breath before you put your step in the stage.
2) just remember your upcoming gr8 event it could be the party after the show or dating or buying new music instruments...and then rock dude......

remember nOBODYS pERFECT...

you gotta imagine yourself being awesome, if you imagine the opposite you'll freak right out. keep reassuring yourself that you are good and the band wouldn't have chosen you to play w/ them if you sucked ***. but officially some calming methods are to take deep slow breaths and think happy thoughts (like peter pan...haha) or focus on each part of your body and tense up and release starting w/ your toes, calves, knees.......shoulders, biceps....forhead, basically tense and release each body part from head to toe individally, this helps your body to know the difference between being tense and relaxed, and helps you to know when you are tense or relaxed, which is something you might not notice until you suddenly realize that your muscles are kind of tight, lol. it also helps your body calm down, and gets your mind off of whatever it is making you tense for a bit. take up tai chi, that's calming, or yoga which is also calming and gives you lots of breathing tips to help calm yourself. most of all though i would think forcing yourself to only focus on success would help the most and make sure you practice a lot the night before and get lots of rest so that your brain is in tip top shape.

Just ask yourself, could these people do what I can do??? Probably not. The more you worry yourself, the more you are goin' to mess up. You just have to relax and maybe even pretend those people aren't even there. And just play your heart out. The music is the important thing. Besides, you are in a band. All of you have to perform well. Don't put all the pressure on you. And if you or any member of your band messes up, don't worry about it. You'll get more chances. If you look at most bands, they all had to try and try again to make it big. But, if you are a true musician, making it big doesn't matter.
