Question for those of you who have had a broken finger...?!

Question: I've read about the symptoms at several medical sites, but I'm looking for personal experience. Have you ever broken a finger? If so, what are the symptoms? My older son slammed into my left index finger this evening when we were playing, and now it HURTS. I can bend it slightly, and there is some swelling (between the index and middle finger knuckles on my left hand), a little bruising, and the joint of my index finger feels cold. I'm hesitant to go to the doctor and waste the money if he's just going to tell me it's sprained or "jammed." Any help/personal experience here?

I have had 2 of my fingers broke 2 times each. Each time the finger was VERY painful and swollen. I had a school nurse tell me that it was stoved or jammed. The swelling didn't subside after a few hours and I couldn't move the finger. Ice and tylenol did nothing to help...It was off to the doctor each time, and each time if was a confirmed fracture.

I'd recommend taking him for an x-ray...one of my fractures was severe enough that had I moved it anymore I would have had to had surgery to repair the damage...

If you can still move it and it's not pointing the wrong way you may just want to stick it out.

i would go get xray sometimes it can be asmall fracture that could lead to a full break
