How Do I Get Over Insomnia?!

Question: I couldnt get enough and sleep early at night no matter how tire I am. Sometimes the entire night. I tried to exercise by going out for a long walk but it still doesnt help much even with a glass of wine. Please help. For your information I have two infants aged 11/2 and 5 months old. They both sleep well eventhough sometimes sleep after 9pm.

Its normal when you have kids...you are almost forced into never being able to let your guard down because your on "watch". Its about being able to learn how to relax, maybe yoga, meditation, down time to find yourself.

lm with you cause l have lt to

Consult with your doctor, especially if you are breast feeding the 5 month old child

pray

This is a tough question. The real thing is: why do you have insomnia? Hopefully there isn't something that is very stressful or causing you to worry (more than normal, I mean).
Otherwise:
1.Exercise and diet are really great. You'll probably need something more rigorous than walking though; get you pulse over 120 for 30 mins.
2.Good sleep hygiene. Use your bed for sleep and only sleep. No TV while in bed. No reading in bed. No smoking, alcohol or other drug use. No caffeine, including soda, after 2pm.
3.Medicine may help but is largely short term help. Something like benadryl may work but often causes drowsiness the next day. Other over the counter stuff includes Melanin (didn't work for me) or Valerian root (didn't work, either). With an MD's script you can get Elavil or Trazodone. These didn't work for me, either. More heavy duty stuff includes Ambien or Lunesta (both work GREAT) and have nearly zero overdose potential and very small tolerance potential. Finally, people used to use Valium, ativan, or other benzos or barbiturates. I think you'll have a hard time getting this from a licensed doctor and should avoid them regardless.
4.Psychiatric eval. Everyone is seeing a shrink now and might help uncover why you're having probs in the first place.
