Help... I will get a rectal suppository in hospital soon, I'm really scared.!

Question: will it hurt?
how do they put it in? (how much will they undress me, lay me down, etc.)

usually it shouldn't hurt, but you musn't tense up. Probably they will pull your trousers and your pants down and they will lay you on a bed. I suppose they will put you on your side and pull your knees to your chest. As this exposes the anal area, it is hard to tense up and it shouldn't hurt. Then they will take the suppository and simply insert it into your back passage. It will be over in a moment. You will feel it for an instant as it slips in deeper and deeper but when it is far enough in, you won't feel it anymore!

just relax.......

It looks like a small bullet and you could if you asked, put it in yourself, no big deal, you will hardly feel it and it certainly wont hurt. if they put it in you will be asked to turn on your side and it will be pushed in with a finger.
After an operation i had i had to buy some suppository's to help with the pain as it is more effective at getting the painkiller into your system that way and had to insert it myself so it's no big deal really.

I had a colonscopy and needed sedation for that but a suppository is not nearly as invasive. It might be uncomfortable but won't be painful.

Stay very near a toilet and wait for the explosion, it will take about 15 mins to work. My daughter is a nurse.

Thats my favourite type of suppository.

Many people use rectal suppositories daily as treatment for haemorrhoid's (Piles). The suppository itself is a lubricant and insertion should be almost painless.

Please stop asking this question... everyone has told you it will not hurt and told you everything... now please stop... there is nothing else to tell you...

there is nothing to worry about!

Do you mind, I'm trying to eat my lunch here!
No it won't hurt, you'll be fine.

Please don't be scared, I had one last month, before surgery. The nurse rolls you over on your side (you are usually wearing one of those gown with an open back) and she or he slips s small, smooth bullet shaped, gel thing into your anus. It is far smaller than a normal motion, and you will hardly feel it - honestly. You won't see what she's doing and it will be over in two seconds.

Afterwards you will need to empty your bowels urgently, that is actually a bit worse than having the suppository

it may be uncomfortable psychologically for you, but not physically.
