You get your tonsils out in a hospital and it is only day surgery, so you get to go home after you've been in the recovery room for a couple hours and the anesthetic has worn off. Make sure you have lots of fluids, ice cream, pudding, soup, etc. at home to eat in the days following the surgery, because your throat will be quite sore.
