I assume from your question that you have a problem of shocking people. I that is the case: Get a large rubber band and attach it around your ankle. It needs to hang down and stay in contact with the floor while you walk. It will not be as conspicuous as you may imagine. The rubber band will act as a "grounding strap". The technicians put one on me when I worked at a repair shop. I would work up a large static charge while walking on the carpet and then transfer it when I touched the shop door. They all thought it was funny (because I would yelp) until one of them was touching the other side of the door when I shocked it. They didn't think it was funny any more and fitted me with the grounding strap.

Turn a negative into a positive. Instead of bemoaning the fact that you somehow build up large amounts of static electricity and end up inadvertently shocking customers, just say that you give "shockingly good customer service!"

You can reduce the static electricity in your body by frequently touching or contacting a metal surface. Just every once in a while you are doing something and see a metal object near you just touch it, reach out and make contact with it. This will discharge any build up that you have created. I did this when I was working in a shop that had a carpet that would build up a charge in me. I would touch the microwave, doorknob, the faucets in the sink. just to release the charge from building up. This is the same as a grounding system, but instead of dragging something around with you you will be grounding yourself.

The grounding strap is a METAL CONDUCTOR that transmitts charges to the ground. You will be doing the same thing by grabbing the faucets in the sink or anything metal. A rubber grounding strap is not a real thing. I would have enjoyed watching some one walk around with a trial of rubber bands behind her. It would make the day entertaining. I fell sorry for anybody that was abused this way, it is not nice, but people do mean things all the time and at work or in a lab where there are a bunch of guys... well what can I say?
