of course hygiene has a lot to do about it but what about food intake?

All bodies naturally have odors. A wide variety of factors contribute to these odors, including genetic predispositions, lifestyle, hygiene, and overall state of health; additionally, several research studies suggest that overactive sweat glands may be responsible for unwanted body odors in some individuals. Diet is definitely an additional factor that can contribute to body odors. There are very few research studies, however, that have examined the impact of diet on body odor from a science-based perspective.

Smoking generally deprives the body of oxygen. Dental caries and tooth dcay and periodontal or gum disease can contribute to bad breath. Other health conditons such as chronic sinusitis and postnasal drip will also cause bad breath . Not taking regular baths or showers will certainly influence the way we smell. Stress, menstrual and hormonal changes in women would also infuence body odors.

Body odor can also come in the context of diet and bodily functions. The stomach, a major organ of digestion, produces hydrochloric acid and other enzymes that it mixes with food and fluids. This mixture sits and ferments before moving into the small intestines.

Fermentation is a souring process.

Food that spends too long of a time in the stomach causes excess fermentation, sour smell. In excess, this sour smell can rise into the breath, move out the armpits, etc.

Sour breath, body odor is generally a symptom of indigestion and or the excessive consumption of sour foods (milk, yogurt, cheese, etc.).

Indigestion not only produces a sour smell but also abdominal bloating, gas, burping, loose stools and or constipation depending in the severity of indigestion.

Indigestion has several causes:

1. Overeating. Quantity spoils quality.
2. Under eating: too little protein and fat
3. Over cleansing: too many carbohydrates, raw, salads
4. Over cooling, moistening
5. Late night eating
6. Tight clothing
7. Chronic overweight, 15# +
8. Disorderly eating, cold to hot, salads, fruit at beginning of meal

Sweet and rancid body odors are also is produced by indigestion, and like all smells are food or function specific.

Sour foods (milk, yogurt, etc.) tend to produce a sour smell.

Sweet foods (fruit, vegetables, grains, bread, sugar, etc.) tend to produce a sweet smell. The excessive consumption of sweet foods, drinks tends to create a sweet, stinky odor.

Animal foods, protein and fat, tend to produce a rancid, putrid body odor. The excessive consumption of animal foods, oil, fat and resulting indigestion, constipation, etc. tends to produce rotten, foul odors.

Body odor is not a mystery but instead a reaction to diet, environment, etc. Everything, food,( esp garlic, onions and califlower can give off odors) herbs, organs, hormones, skin, stools, urine, etc. is made from food.

The cure to body odor, 90% of the time is simple diet: rice, cooked vegetables, grains, moderate amounts of protein and fat; fruit and spices; small meals, spaced if you are excessive, overbuilt and bigger meals (more protein and fat) if deficient, or under built .

There'a a grain of truth in the saying,: "We are what we eat".

I know exactly what your taking about.

some foods cause an odor like garlic or onions. I think just like people that drink or smoke excessively. I smell it on their skin.
