I don't get it...?!

Question: You know how there are like, tons of commercials for people to lose weight?
Well, why is there barely even one to Gain weight?
What about those people that want to gain a little bit more fat in their body, but in a healthy way?
Why is it just to lose weight?

I'm seriously not judging, but what about those people that may be anorexic? What if they do those things to lose even more weight?
That's horrible.

I'm just wondering... no rude comments please :]

Yes, it's strange. It's especially prevalent in the elderly.

They need to drink Ensure, Boost or Nutriment just to make sure they're getting daily requirements.

Losing weight is an obsession in our society especially directed at women by male designers & magazine editors.

Hopefully, anorexics will be in treatment that includes a nutritionist.

Nice of you to be wondering about others.

prolly b/c obesity is taking over america!!

At the United States, Obesity is a major factor and more and more people are getting fatter. I guess the commercials are aiming more to the people who are "fat" rather than skinny as there are more amounts of obese people.

Because its the way society has been for years. Skinny people are beautiful people and if you are fat, well...then you are ugly.

But, fortunely, now the media is starting to pay attention to the negative effects of losing weight.

there are a lot of commercials geared to gaining weight
burger king ....mcy d's...wendys.... arbys....you get what i am saying?
Medically they treat anorexia with healthy eating and counselling
the problem with anorexia is the lack of muscle
and not so much a lack of fat in a person.
Anorexics starve to the point
that the body has no reserves to function
at the expense of all systems-
not just losing fat.

weight gain supplements are frequently advertised on television, radio, print ads, etc. It's just that it's not being marketed to young girls w/weight issues. It's marketed towards athletes, fighters (boxing, wrestlers, martial arts, etc.), football players and is therefore advertised during periods & in mediums which they believe this target audience will be watching. Try watching Spike TV during a UFC night or ESPN during a boxing night. You will see your commercials. Hope this helps, but at the same time this doesn't even touch the topic of the insane standards that our media & society put on young women these days. The makers of these products probably don't try to market them in that way because they already know that their effort will be washed away by the flood of images that state that the world believes otherwise (irregardless of whether it does or not).
