What could my sickness be?!

Question: For the past 5 days, ive had a very sore throat, horrible cough (not dry, filled with mucus), runny nose, watery eyes that cause tears to stream down my face, body temperature goes from cold to hot very quickly, wake up many times thorughout the night completely drenched in sweat. my mucus is yellow-green, kinda thick and stringy.

i have had absolutely no voice for the past 4 days either...very raspy and cracks a lot.

what do you think this is?

Allergic rhinitis or sinusitis. If it were the flu symptoms would be lessening after 5 days. Any infection could cause a fever which would explain the body temperature fluctuation. The giveaway is the mucousal description. The sore throat and cough could easily be caused by sinus drainage down the back of your throat which is what you are coughing up. If the nasal discharge, and productive cough leave a nasty taste in your mouth that is an indicator of sinusitis. I have had chronic, bilateral maxillary sinusitis for many years now. From the symptoms you mention it sounds like the same malady. Press on your forehead above your eyes (this checks frontal sinuses), on your cheeks (maxillary sinuses) and see if the area(s) are tender (sore) to the touch. If so, that is one more indicator of a sinus problem. Sinuses are cavities in the skull connected via the nose and when they become obstructed they cause all the symptoms you mentioned. But, that being said there are other possibilities. If you own a penlight flashlight go into the bathroom and place the flashlight in your mouth right up against the roof. Turn off the bathroom lights. If the light shines through your cheeks (and forehead to a lesser degree) like a jack-o;lantern then you have no air fluid level and most likely it is not a sinus infection. If on the other hand the light is very dim then that is indicative of an air fluid level and as a result a sinus infection which can be cleared up with an antibiotic that you take over 5 days. For symptomatic relief... gargle with warm, salt water (1-2 tsps per 8 oz. water) ... Take a hot, moist wash cloth and place it on your forehead then repeat and place over your cheeks and nose. If there is mucuos buildup the moist heat will help to loosen it and make it easier to remove by blowing your nose. During the day use an over the counter decongestant like Sudafed and at night switch to an antihistamine Benadryl or Claritin. Take some vapor bath and put it in a pan on the stove in a quart of water or so and once it has been heated up. Grab a towel and place it over your head, covering the pot (after removing from the heat of course) and inhale deeply through your nose as that will loosen any congestion. Last but not least use saline spray to keep your nose moist at night (antihistaminers tend to dry you up) and during the day also as needed. If you experience difficulty breathing through your nose you can use Afrin or it's equivalent but for no longer than 3 consecutive days. If the condition does not improve in 3 days or so go see your doctor.

Go to a doctor...duh...

Could be the flue? a cold? an allegy? All the symtoms appeal to many things, colds, i personally get virtually the same thing when i have cat hairs up my nose (by cat on pillow or something). also my temperature and sore throar and wake up thing hjappened when i had tonsilitus, check your local doctor for help best bet
