Stomach bug? yogurt, bread, or nothing?!

Question: I've come down with a stomach bug (I think probably because my UV filter in my water system went out yesterday) - I spent last night hugging the toilet, and still feel queasy today. ive heard yogurt is good to rebalance the stomach, but if im still queasy should I have it, or stick with bread until i feel a little better?

i would stay away from any dairy, cos its harder for your body to digest than other foods.
Stick to plain food. Peppermint and ginger is always good to get rid of that nauseous feeling so if u have any ginger ale drink that, or some peppermint tea or sweets.
Drinking tea - (green tea or what americans, i think, call english breakfast tea works for me)
or just sip some water

edit : peppermint chewing gum is good too..ive tried that

Brat diet
Broth
Rice
Applesauce
Tea

I once got an aweful bug on a trip to new york. Throwing up in the airplane to the monorail to the elevator in the hotel. The next day I lived off of soup broth and toast.

nothing with any dairy content as this is what stomach bugs feed on. try mashed potato and lots of water

Probably the diet suggest by Kabel is good: broth, weak tea w/honey, plain rice, etc. Seriously doubt it's from the water, that would usually take longer for that type reaction. AFTER, you feel your situation come into balance, the yogurt would be good. Make sure you keep up with clear liquids, don't want to dehydrate. Hope your better soon!

Sip room temp ginger ale, coke, Gatorade, suck on ice chips.. If you can't keep that down don't eat or drink for 2 hours...then try again. You can also try Pepto Bismol it helps nausea & coats stomach.
Once keeping liquid down try Chicken soup; Jello; applesauce: plain toast; rice; noodles; mashed or baked potato (no butter). No dairy products.

Then keep drinking fluids to rehydrate yourself.

Hope you feel better soon.

My Turkish Doctor said,"Ayran patates, three days!"

Ayran being a mixture of water (you NEED) and youghurt and a little salt (Which you also need) and plain old boring, bland potassium-rich, boiled potatoes! Eat 'em plain -hey, at least you get to EAT! and don't rush it. And stay away from oil.

My other friend in Indonesia suggested -of all things- lime juice in water, but I gotta say it was very effective!

My German friend -get this- gave me sauerkraut! -what else? which also worked like a charm.

My mother put some "IMMODIUM" in my suitcase, but I only ever took ONE and I was not Impressed.

A Norwegian beauty queen I knew just ate normal, but at a little youghurt with each meal to keep the "goodies" in control.

In Austria, I once nursed a bottle of rose wine over a few hours. That did the trick too!

I don't even want to TELL you what was in that soup that the nice Penticostal lady in Tabasco, Mexico gave me when I was really "hurtin'" but it worked too! But, then, she was a woman of faith, ha!

So I guess you are left a lot of room for creativity, as well as variety. But I would subtitute dry toast for "bread".

Hope you get better soon

Look it up if you don't believe me but fresh lemon juice would stop it. It neutralizes stomache acid and kills any parasites you may have. Put at least 3 tablespoons in very warm but not hot water and drink. Dont use hot water because it will kill the helpful enzymes.

Hope you feel better soon!
