Reuscitation (i.e. CPR) comes from a latin root to ressurect from the dead.
This question all depends on what you define death as, if it is the point at which a person's heart and breathing stop then yes, it happens all the time in hospital..
If it is the point at which your brain has suffered damage to the point of not being workable ( whether this is from lack of oxygen form your heart and lungs stopping or from direct injury or a massive stroke) then the answer is no.
Interestingly when a person "dies" the vast majority of cells in that person's body will stay alive for 5 maybe 10 minutes as they burn up their energy stores without oxygen (anaerobic respiration) So this begs the question if the vast majority of cells in the body are still alive after death..... they what died?
