Actually, your body burns more calories when you have a fever. It's something like for every degree your body temperature raises, your metabolism is a certain percent faster. I think it's similar to what happens when you take a stimulant. You lose your appetite, but at the same time you are burning more calories.
If you try to eat,it will make it worse.

Some interesting answers, but not WHY. I am sorry, but I do not know why. My guess would be that your digestion system shuts down, allowing your body to transfer that energy to the immune system.
