Would it hurt you to take two "one-a-day" vitamins in a day?!

Question: What about if it's the cheap dolla sto variety?

Answers: What about if it's the cheap dolla sto variety?

You have to look at the bottle and see exactly what is in it. The cheap variety probably has less "good stuff" in it, but still, you should follow the directions on the bottle. Some vitamins, if you take too much, it will come out in the urine, but some vitamins, if you take too much, it can be dangerous. Just follow the directions on the bottle to be safe.

not sure, i think if it has iron in it...........it's not a good idea. I heard recently that you can break a multivitamin in half and take half in the morning and half in the evening so you get the most out of it. Nothing goes to waste that way.

you will just pee out the unused vitamins anyway

although some things you can get too much of

the label says one a day...too many vitamins can cause serious problems...no matter what brand or variety....ONLY take ONE_A_DAY.....thas why its called that...

Look at the percentages of vitamins on the back. Taking two of those a day probably wouldn't kill you, but it might make you have like, 800% of some vitamin. You can overdose on vitamins, your body can have too much and it could start to have negative effects. I would stick to one if they're called "one a day" vitamins and take other supplements from food.

wont hurt but it wouldnt be more efficient taking 2

I don't think it would be a good idea. A person can actually o.d. on vitamins. And too much of certain vitamins can actually cause a lot of damage. I'd stick with just one. And the cheap dollar store variety should have the same amount of each vitamin as more expensive brands. Just look at the labels and compare the mg's.

If you're taking too much of any vitamin it will likely just be expelled in your urine. However, some overdosed vitamins can actually do you harm, like too much iron. Use the prescribed amount of any drug, or vitamin. Too much could cause kidney damage or other serious side effects.

Eat a healthy diet and only take one one-a-day. If your diet sucks, talk to your doc before upping the dosage of your vits. They may suggest better alternatives, like nutritional suppliment drinks...

It depends on your diet.
If your getting around the recommended 200 calories a day,
then yes more than one vitamin could be hurtful.

Some of the components in those vitamins will simply be excreted; those you don't have to worry about. Others will bioaccumulate and can become toxic over long periods of time. Some doctors will tell you to stop taking the vitamins periodically to allow your body to detoxify - I think it's good advice.

Whatever your body doesn't need will be automatically excreted except for the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, which will be stored in your fat cells for later use.

I should also note that taking vitamin supplements is not necessary in a typically healthy person. If you eat a healthy diet, you will get all of the vitamins you need.

Vitamins are divided into two groups; fat soluble and water soluble. The fat soluble vitamins are A,D,E, and K. These are stored in the liver. It takes unbelievably large amounts of vitamin A or D to be fatal or even to cause problems.
Vitamin E, if taken in excess, is alleged to be unhealthful for your heart. Vitamin K is a blood-clotting factor.

The other vitamins are water soluble. You will excrete any of these which you do not need.

Americans are noted for being short of Vitamin A. This is why so many of us have trouble seeing in the dark.
Americans are also noted for lacking iron, especially women of child-bearing age, many of whom are anemic.

If you buy "cheap dollar store" vitamins, you are going to get "cheap dollar store" results with them. See your doctor about taking a good multi-vitamin with minerals.

If you eat a well-balanced diet, you don't even need vitamin supplements.

To answer your question, two "one-a-day" vitamins are not unhealthful unless you choke on them.

EDIT EDIT EDIT
The MDAR, or Minimum Daily Adult Requirement, means the minimum amount of a vitamin needed to keep a 150 pound adult from having deficiency diseases, and nothing more than that.
