Question about bone infection after a bone marrow biopsy?!

Question: I had a bone marrow biopsy last thursday, its my second one in the last 4 years. I knew some pain and discomfort would be included, but since yesterday I have this pain with burning sensation and I mean really burning, on all my hip bone where the biopsy was done, not just the spot where it was done. is this normal, or is it sighn of infection?

I also have chills and hot flashes I guess you would call them, but no fever.
Thanks for your help.
I do not want to call my doctor because she will say to go to the ER imediately even if its not infection or something dangerous.

Your first sign of infection will be redness in the skin. Not just plain redness, but very tender redness associated with swelling. You may or may not get pus or discharge coming from the wound. The time course you are describing is very concerning for infection though. Antibiotics and/or drainage of abscess will be the only way to get rid of it. Assuming that you got a biopsy due to an already abnormal immune system, please do have a low threshold for going to the ER.
