How long can Gangrene last with out amputation?!

Question: If you think you have gangrene, get to a doctor NOW!

Amputation was formerly the only known cure, but it is not always necessary. Several treatments are possible, depending on the severity and advancement of the gangrene, as well as its location.

As to time, there is no specific answer because there are several types of gangrene, with it sometimes being on the surface, and initially affecting skin, but also ranging deeper, both in and into the underlying tissues.

Gangrene initially starts with tissue that has lost blood supply, and it kills the tissue, then moves outwards, killing more and more tissue as it spreads.

Gangrene is progressive and will continue spreading and eating tissue until it is stopped.

Gangrene also puts toxins into your blood, and even when the visible spread is not that great, it can kill you.

Again, if you think you have gangrene, go to a doctor or hospital immediately.

Not long because the pain is unbearable, the smell is sickening and the look of it repugnant.

It will consume anything still healthy until there is no good flesh left!

Till you die. Well, past that, actually. Till you're gone.

umm gangrene means that the tissue has died and the infection will continue moving up that limb until you go into septic shock and die.

Forever. Until all the healthy tissue is gone.
