You are a very sweet person. Quitting is tough. They can only do it if they want to quit. First time I quit, I did hypnotherapy. It worked for three years. Never even craved one during those three years. Then I was in Prague, got pretty drunk (everyone was smoking) and thought I can have just one...NOT. That was 3 years ago. But I have made changes in my behavior to decrease the amount of cigarets I smoke a day. In the morning, instead of coffee and smokes, I have water and a half hour work out with hand weights, or, if the weather is good, I take the dog for a walk in the woods. Instead of smoking after a meal, I do the dishes, take the dog for a walk..anything but sit and have a smoke right away. And yes, we have a lucky dog, she gets lots of walks. Oh, when I do walk her, I leave the cigs at home. It is a matter of changing your smoking habits. We do not smoke in the house, and sometimes here it is sooo cold, you do not even want to go out and smoke. It is not easy, and the desire to REALLY quit has to be there or they will fail and be discouraged, making it harder to try again.

I wish them luck and to you too. Send some strength my way too.

No matter what method she uses, it will be tough. It takes will power. I have had the patch, Zyban, and quit for several years. I was foolish to think I could go to Reno and smoke and come back and not smoke. It started again. This time I took Chantix. It works really good. But I had to quit taking it cause it made me sick. I still get the urges but you just have to fight them off. It's a problem if you LET it be a problem. You just can't dwell on it. I told myself how much I hated being a slave to them and a smoke was not going to rule my life. Besides it being so unpopular.

Rowan's Mama? Do it for rowan just lay them down. If i can do it anyone can. It's cheap and it does work. You just have to be stubborn enough not to let it beat you!

Print some pictures of damaged versus healthy lungs and heart. Post them around where they will be seen. When you see them so regularly it really makes an impact. An actual craving only lasts for 3 minutes. So when she wants to smoke, she should look at the picture, for 3 min if necessary. This really worked for my husband and I. I hope you can help your aunt. Good Luck!

No one thing works for everybody but I can tell you how I quit.I used the new pill- Chantix- and it worked great for me. I had no cravings and no side affects. It costs $115 a month and you need to take it for 6 mos. A big percentage that used Chantix and thought they had it made in 3 mos. ended up smoking again. The money you save on cigarettes will pay for the prescription. But if your aunt is not ready to quit then nothing will help. I have been smoke free since April 14th 2007 thanks to Chantix.
