What factors other than diet may contribute to daily fatigue/lack of energy??!

Question: It seems every single day, at some point during the day, i get so tired either A. i must take a nap or B. i cant really function because i have no energy. This is especially present in school, i feel the need to fall asleep during almost every class. I get plenty of sleep (7-10 hrs), but my diet is poor. I think i'm just not eating right. But....are there any other factors besides diet that might cause this?

Hi, there. There are a lot of things that can cause the severe fatigue you're having. The fatigue could indicate a deficiency in minerals and vitamins (which is likely), but could also be because your thyroid levels are low, because you are having low blood sugars, because you're anemic, etc. You really should visit your doctor to discuss your symptoms and get some blood work done.

I hate to bring this up, but BOREDOM can also cause extreme fatigue. Any chance that's what's causing your inability to stay awake? Do you experience this type of fatigue anywhere else than during class?

Starting to eat healthier will be a great start. You may also find that taking a multivitamin, b complex vitamin, and magnesium supplements make a big difference rather quickly. Good luck finding a solution!!

stress! stress can make u tired more than anything, that is why my mom is always tired (shes a teacher) so relax hang out w/ friends just have fun

you may have a iron deficiency, not enough green leafy veggies and meat can cause a lack of iron. iron helps carry oxygen in the blood around the body, and if you dont have enough you feel extremely lathargic ect:

eat more red meat, or if your vegatarian eat more - heaps more - green leafy veg. such as spinach, broccoli, cabbage, beans, carrot tops etc: or take iron suppliments. see how that goes.

also exercise, such as a half hr walk aday can increase your energy. so try to do some and see how you feel.

other wise go to a Dr you may have something more serious going on. and no one on here can diagnose you!

Stress and depression as well as boredom can drain your energy levels but probably the most common cause of insufficient energy is a poor diet. Perhaps you should try eating more fruit and vegetables and you might find an improvement in your energy levels.
