i use something called migrastick its about 5 pounds you can get it from holland and barretts it contains lavender oil and peppermint oil you just rub it onto your temples.its really good i swear by it.

Just drinking water helps me sometimes. But if its really bad you might just have to take something.

Lay down, close your eyes and put a damp cloth on your head.

Breathe steadily and just relax. Drown out the noise around you and just think peaceful relaxing thoughts.

Also a gentle rubbing of the temples on the side of your head while laying back relaxing helps.

Try this one close one nostril and breathe deeply thru the open one hold it then release it out the closed one! then reverse the process over and over! Works for me sometimes!

You could try this accupressure technic to see if it would help your headache. The area between your fore finger and thumb: apply pressure with the thumb and forefinger of the opposite hand for about one minute. Also applying heat or cold to the back of the neck sometimes helps.

Theres something advertised on the telly its a flannel type thing that you lay on your forehead - thats supposed to work.

If you can afford it get a professional massage at least once a week. They really help me relax and get rid of the tension that builds up all week. Most of the time tension headaches are caused by lactic acid build in the muscles and massage can help get rid of the pain caused by it.

Also take a hot bath to help relax the muscles as well. They really do work!

Dehydration can cause headaches (hangover is a result of dehydration). So IF you are a person who take very little liquid a day, drinking more water will get rid of it (also helps you from getting one in the first place)

What are you doing before you get a headache?

I typically just take a nap but don't oversleep or undersleep because you can wake up with the same headache...

First, figure out what kind of headache it is. I get headaches if I don't have my regular caffeine fix. Try having a coffee.

fresh air is good for me, sleep is good but impossible if you have young children like i do, an orgasm is very good as it relaxes the muscles though this may not be appropriate, a nice relaxing bath with your eyes closed also good

Soem headaches are caused by lack of water and fresh air, so make sure you get these.
Otherwise sit or lie down in a quiet place with as little light as possible. Given about 20 minutes relaxation, most headaches go.

As Warren said fresh air is a winner. A walk to the local shops and back taking deep breaths as you go, and do NOT go without your breakfast the most important meal of the day.
